We are very lucky in Lauder to enjoy one of the oldest Common Riding festivals in the Borders, and celebrating our customs is one of the highlights of the year in the Burgh. However, the cost of the festival increases each year, and we rely on the generosity of the people of Lauder to allow us the Common Riding to continue.
The Lauder Common Riding Patrons' Society continues to go from strength to strength, and it's great to see people wearing their badges with pride during the week.
To become a member of Lauder Common Riding Patrons' Society costs just £10 a year - a tiny amount even in a recession! (not even 20p a week!). We would be delighted if you could consider joining the society and becoming part of your Common Riding - helping to ensure it can be enjoyed for many more years to come.
Many, many thanks to the generous people listed here - our current Patrons - your support is much needed and very gratefully received. Our apologies to anybody missing from this list--it's based on standing order payments received at the time of writing. Please contact me with any queries.
For more information on the Society or full details of how to set up a standing order and become a Patron yourself, please email lauderpatrons@hotmail.co.uk or contact Ex-Cornet Stewart Dick on 01578 718773.
